THE BEST FIRST MOUNTAIN BIKE FOR THE ADVENTUROUS RIDER.

450MTBG | AGE: 6 – 9 YEARS | HEIGHT: 115 – 145 CMS

Ability Level: Able to ride with some developed skills and has reasonable responsibility. Ready for handbrakes only.

Unike any other kids mountain bike at this size, this bike is light, agile, responsive and a whole lot of fun – on trails or on the way to school.

With world class Microshift 8 speeds and our attention to detail in the geometry and with every single component, this bike will thrill the budding off-road rider. Just 10kg.

Design:

Committed to the ultimate off road potential, the E450MTBG is a machine that inspires fun and adventure. While the enemy of kids MTBG’s is typically sluggish handling and heavy weight, the ByK E450MTBG is seriously light and has the performance to rival a World Cup bike.

Like the entire ByK Range, this is not a scaled down adult bike. Every single component has been considered, tested, custom sized and tuned to suit our rider’s profile. Our unique ergonomic riding position and geometry offer a range of riding positions and adjustability unexpected at this size.

Performance:

We have weighed every single component, measured to a millimeter the geometry and ergonomics and tested on every trail we could find. Our long list of premium components is outstanding.

We have broadened the range of our world class Microshift X4 cassette gears to 8 speed. We have designed our off-road compatible rigid forks to be compliant and absorbing yet offer handling characteristics that cater for enthusiastic riders. Plus with the great weight savings over comparable bike sizes with clunky suspension offerings, the advantages to the rider of all levels is truly enhanced.

You’ll also see we’ve increased the power of our V brakes to match the performance of many disc brakes down hill but at the same time saved a huge amount of weight so the rider can get up and over hills too. We have strengthened our wheels, used extra grip lightweight tyres, an ergonomic saddle and customised our unique V bars for off-road fun.

Everything has been considered to make this bike perform in a class of its own. The ByK E450MTBG re-defines MTB fun for kids.

Little Details Count:

True cartridge bottom bracket for straighter chain alignment.

Microshift Cassette gears for maximum shift accuracy and reliability.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE KIDS BIKE

When it comes to choosing the right size kids bike, our over-riding advice is ‘smaller is better than bigger’. Children learn to ride with greater ease, have more control on the bike and have a lot more fun if they are the master of their domain.

Our overall advice on choosing the right size kids’ bike is based not only on Age and Height, but Ability and Personal Confidence.

It is all too common to see parents using height as the only key measurement for a bike’s correct size. Be careful: it can easily be misleading as an indicator. As most kids’ balance develops at roughly the same speed, using age with ability is far more relevant. If you can add age, with height, and ability (ability is a hard one to measure but as a parent you must be honest and realistic) and confidence, than you have a really good indicator.

A BIKE IS THE RIGHT SIZE WHEN YOUR CHILD CAN:

Sit on the saddle and rest the balls of both feet on the ground.

Straddle the top bar with a comfortable clearance and with both feet flat on the ground.

Reach the handlebars with a slight bend in the arms when sitting on the seat.

If there are handbrakes, your child should be able to grasp them and apply enough pressure to stop the bike.

The most common reason kids have to move up a size on a normal bike is because of the lack of knee room between the seat and handlebars. This forces you to put up the seat and then your child loses interest or confidence in riding because the centre of gravity is really high and hence the bike becomes even more difficult to ride.

ByK bikes have more knee room than other bikes, which helps to lengthen the life of the bike and make the bike handle in a more predictable way.
